Thankfully there arent checkpoints or anything setup and technically I was going out to an essential business anyways (bike shop for some tire tubes). Lovely day for a simple drive around Newbury Park and Westlake and then back over the hill to Malibu. Still people trying to get out onto the trails despite the closures but all the power to the law breakers I guess! Very glad I got my hike in yesterday before the closure though.
No wonder why I am still sore also, it was nearly 14 miles with 3500 feet of elevation gain in total. Awesome hike, cant wait to do it again some time when all this quarantine shit calms down.
Also, this cool rock i found on that hike:
Reminded me of Zion a bit when standing in there. Enjoy your weekends while I find some sedentary activities to do around the house.

When you say all trails do you mean like state ones or is it a state order to close “trails”?

Less a rabbit hole than slowly getting up to date on the situation out there. Produced this little nugget all the way over in FL. Where apparently every idea critical to reducing the spread of COVID-19 and lessening the impact on emergency services are vague concepts to be dismissed.
“We were informed that it was caused by a gender reveal using Tannerite and a weapon,”

Well every main trail head is closed every day but for Saturday and Sunday they listed out specific trails closed, one of which I was on yesterday. Although I bet the trail head I used is still open and it's unlikely they are enforcing the ban anyways. But I figure I might as well try to follow the rules.

Unfortunately people have yet to really understand that social distancing is an absolute bare minimum. This coronavirus can stay suspended for air for hours. So even if everyone on the trail is keeping a “ safe” distance, everyone is passing through the exact same space. There are way too many people going to our public trails. Thankfully my neighborhood hills are cut off from the public. One of my neighbors secured “no parking” construction signs and placed them near all the trailheads to keep people away. We were already starting to see dipshits show up dressed like they’re climbing a mountain because it’s the first time they’ve walked on dirt.
Big problem is all these people you see at REI who fancy themselves outdoorpeople, really aren’t. If they were they wouldn’t want to be on crowded trails. I don’t really have a problem if someone wants to go out and find an empty trail, with the caveat that they’re absolutely on their own if they get hurt, both on the trail and at home. I don’t think the REI outdoorsman is going to do that if they get hurt.

How have cops been? Like, once I'm back (hopefully next weekend!!), will I be stopped if I'm going for a fun drive? Not a ton of essential services in the canyons and I obviously will not be going to my essential job on a Saturday morning in the Ferrari. Lol

It looks like fucking middle of july out front of Neptunes net and I saw at least two lambos, a corvette group, and plenty of trashy ricers today. So clearly the cops arent bothering anyone more than usual. I think you will be perfectly fine. Sheriffs office has said explicitly that they dont have to manpower to excessively stop people. I imagine CHP is in the same boat.
But yeah hit me up if you come out for a drive, I will join!

You got it spot on! If the trail isnt covered in brush and I dont have to ocassionally check my map to find out if im still actually on a trail, then its not deserted enough right now. I had to pick two ticks off of me yesterday, thats how I know it was nice and deserted. I am not so concerned about the stuck in the air thing with the slight breeze usually present outside but yeah on some of the more crowded Malibu trails, that definitely could be a concern. Im glad those trails are closed on weekends only. That just means Ill have to enjoy those couple hours of sunlight after work now. When its an easy 10-15 minute drive its easy to pull off an after work hike. Just gotta bring my headlamp and batteries!

Sounds good! Yeah, I just want to drive. No real interest in hanging around at a crowded place like Neptune's. Freaking people. I'll hit you up for sure once I figure my end out. Is the GF doing ok in Europe?

Glad to hear! I will hit you up when I’m back. Planning on getting a rental this weekend and driving back. I’m hoping national has tons of cool cars just sitting around and I can grab something cool (or comfy) for the 16 hour drive

Love it.
Do yourself a favor and take care of those headlights. =)
Edit - in your post from yesterday, they look much better!

Yeah its pretty wild how just a little bit of effort gets them looking quite nice. I don't wash the miata very often so it's more usual for them to be dirty. I need to try another polish/clear coat kit to get a more permanent improvement. Far better than the lights I had on my other miata at least.
